Let's start off by praying... Father we praise You for all things and know that You are the only reason that we can do all things. Lord bless each one of us as we soak up in more and more of You. Lord lead and guide me as I read and study this lesson. Lord I think You for the wisdom and knowledge that You give me as I move closer and closer to You. In Jesus name amen and amen.
Our text will be coming from:
Galatians 5:22:“ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”
In this lesson we will be talking about: PEACE
Philippians 4:7
King James Version (KJV)
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
So how can we obtain this kind of peace in our own lives? The peace that passeth all understaing? How can we recieve this type of peace?
First off, we need to get our minds off of ourselves and completely submerge our selves with the Lord. Soaking and basking in Him and NOT ourselve. In the first place it is not about us, nor will it ever be about us--but it is ALL ABOUT HIM!!! When we keep our focus and our minds on the Lord, He sends us peace in our storms in this life. Just look at the disciples when they were on the water...
Luke 8: 22-25.
22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
The disciples seen Jesus "calm" or made the "peace" come upon the waters they were in. They knew God could do it!!!
This can happen for us today. What was it that Jesus told them? Look at verse 25.. Where is your faith?
So what is Faith ?
Hebrews 11:1
King James Version (KJV)
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
This is a huge with the Lord. Our faith in Him. We have to believe and have faith in the Lord before He can move. He looks at our faith in Him. But guess whattt? We don't have to have much to move a mountain or even have the "calm" or the "peace" in our lives..Check this out...
Matthew 17:20
King James Version (KJV)
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Just the size of a mustard seed.Just that much faith to make the winds calm down in our lives... But, getting back to peace... When we have the faith PEACE will come to us. God will saturate us with His peace. It is nothing that this world can give--the only things the world can give is heartache and pains. But when we trust in the Lord, He will give each one of us HIS Peace!!!
Isaiah 53:5
New King James Version (NKJV)
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,And by His stripes we are healed.
Jesus took it ALL for our peace. He wants for us to have this peace and for us to keep our focus upon Him at all times. When we call upon the name of the Lord, He will come to us and bring us HIS peace. His peace brings healing and it brings hope. When we are at the end of our ropes, hold on to the Lord's peace and His hope. He will NEVER steer you wrong!!!
This concludes this lesson on: PEACE
Questions...
1. Do you think the Lord can bring peace to what your facing? If so how?
